Biography
Nico Pirozzi (Padua, 1954). Graduated in Sociology from the “Federico II” University of Naples.
Professional journalist, essayist and documentary maker. Specialised in investigative and precision journalism, for decades he has been researching the events linked to the persecution of the Jews in the 1930s and 1940s.
Alongside more than thirty years of work as a journalist, which began in the Naples newsroom of the daily newspaper Avanti!, he has never cut the umbilical cord with the world of books: in 1982 he was among the founders of the publishing houses “ci.esse.ti cooperativa editrice” and, later, “Nuove edizioni”.
For more than ten years he handled communication and image for the publishing house “CentoAutori”, where he was also editor of the investigative series “Fatti&Misfatti”.
He has promoted initiatives of high political and cultural significance, including the removal of the street name Gaetano Azzariti (former president of the race tribunal and former president of the Constitutional Court) from a street in the historic centre of Naples. In November 2015 the name was replaced with that of Luciana Pacifici, the Neapolitan baby girl deported to Auschwitz when she was just eight months old.
Since June 2021 he has been president of the Memoriæ Association – Shoah Museum of Naples.
